Free pattern: Sunflower Bookmark for Ukraine

With everything going on in Ukraine, I figured I’d make this pattern for a bookmark, so people can use it for fundraising. The sunflower is the flower of Ukraine and this bookmark has the colors of the Ukrainian flag in it.

Feel free to make these bookmarks and sell them to donate the profits!

Materials

  • Yarn (I used Scheepjes Catona)
    • Brown
    • Yellow
    • Blue
  • Crochet hook (I used a 2.5 mm hook)
  • Yarn needle

Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • tc – triple crochet
  • inc – increase (sc2 in one stitch)

Miscellaneous

I made my bookmark with a 2.5 mm crochet hook and Scheepjes Catona yarn. The sunflower is made by working in the round.

Pattern

Sunflower

Using brown yarn:

1. 6sc in magic ring (6)

2. 6inc (12)

Change to yellow yarn:

3. [2ch, tc, 2ch, sc] in the same stitch. Do this 12 times to get 12 flower petals

Fasten off and leave a long tail (30cm)

String

Cut a string of 60cm blue yarn. Weave this though where the yellow tail comes out of the sunflower. This gives you 3 yarn ends you can braid until you’re happy with the length. You can end this with a knot, but you can also add a tassle to the end if you want (which is what I did).
