Free Pattern: Mini party bunting

This cute mini bunting is a great way to decorate many things! With COVID, I can’t visit my friends on their birthday. But I can still send them some bunting to celebrate with them!

You can make them in many different colors. I’ve made some red-white-blue or orange (the colors of the Netherlands), but I also made some great rainbow pride bunting.

My little flags were made with 125g/50m 100% cotton and a 2.5 mm crochet hook. They are 3cm in length and 7 flags were 40cm long. I used about 75cm/30 inches of yarn per little flag.

Under the video is the written pattern. You can find the pattern on ravelry as well.

Materials

  • Crochet hook
  • Yarn in different colors
  • Black yarn
  • Yarn needle

Abbrevations

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • inc – increase (sc2 in one stitch)

Pattern

Flags (make as many as you want!)

1. inc, turn (2)
2. inc, sc, turn (3)
3. inc, sc2, turn (4)
4. inc, sc3, turn (5)
5. inc, sc4, turn (6)
Finish off and sew in the ends

Assemble

To attach all little flags and make the bunting, you start by chaining 10 with the black yarn.

Now you start with the first triangle, where you crochet 6sc in the top/last row. Chain 5. Now get the next triangle and 6sc in the top. Keep going like this until you finished all the flags. To end, chain 10.

Now you have ended up with bunting, where there are 5 chains between every flag. The ends of the bunting is a bit longer, so that it’s easier to hang the bunting somewhere.
