Time for spheres and cylinders! I think spheres are the most used shape in amigurumi, so it’s important to know these shapes by heart 🙂
Sphere
1. sc6 in magic ring (6)
2. inc 6x (12)
3. [inc, sc] 6x (18)
4. [inc, sc2] 6x (24)
5-7. sc24 (24)
8. [dec, sc2] 6x (18)
9. [dec, sc] 6x (12)
10. dec 6x (6)
This sphere might be slightly hexagonal (just like the circle might be), but there is also a way to make a perfect sphere. Here is a link to a blog that has used mathematics to figure out how to make such a circle and here is the explanation how they did it!
Cylinder
A cylinder is made by making a circle and then working sc in the back loops. The size of the cylinder is decided by the size of the circle and the amount of rows you do (in this case row 5-8).
1. sc6 in magic ring (6)
2. inc 6x (12)
3. [inc, sc] 6x (18)
4. In back loops only: sc18 (18)
5-8. sc18 (18)
9. In back loops only: [dec, sc] 6x (12)
10 dec 6x (6)
