If you look at the picture below, we can all see the difference: one is slightly hexagonal and the other is a perfect circle. Most patterns (including mine) use the first way, this is because the difference isn’t very noticeable when stuffing your ami. But if this bothers you, you can easily change the pattern to get your perfect circle by staggering your stitches!

So… how do we stagger? If you don’t understand the pattern, I explain all my abbreviations in the FAQ.

Normal circle (dark pink)

First, let’s remember how we usually do a circle:
1. sc6 in magic ring (6)
2. inc 6x (12)
3. [inc, sc] 6x (18)
4. [inc, sc2] 6x (24)
5. [inc, sc3] 6x (30)
6. [inc, sc4] 6x (36)
7. [inc, sc5] 6x (42)

Staggered circle (baby pink)

Staggering your circle means you don’t always do the increase on the same sides. This can be done by moving your increases every once in a while, like this:

1. sc6 in magic ring (6)
2. inc 6x (12)
3. [inc, sc] 6x (18)
4. sc, [inc, sc2] 5x inc, sc (24)
5. [inc, sc3] 6x (30)
6. sc2, [inc, sc4] 5x inc, sc2 (36)
